• Porter 75th Anniversary

After celebrating their 96th birthdays in the spring, Madelyn and Raymond Porter gathered with family and friends to celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary on July 8, 2017, at their home in Patten.
During their 75 years of marriage, Madelyn and Ray resided in Patten and Mt. Chase (Shin Pond), where they raised their family including Linda, John and Judy. The family has grown to include Deborah Porter, John's wife; Jan Jacome, Linda's partner; and six grandchildren, Heidi Rojas, Shawn Hubbard, Eric LaPensee, Emily Auert, Matthew Dale and Jeffrey Dale. There are now six great-grandchildren, Brennan and Ella Hubbard, Gillian Porter, Brianna Keely, Evan Dale, Eli Auert and a seventh, Baby Dale, on the way.
Over their years together, Ray and Madelyn also established and operated Porter Brother's Flying Service out of Shin Pond and, later, Porter's Woodworking in Patten. They continue to reside in their home in Patten, where Ray makes brown ash pack baskets and shares his knowledge of wood and skills in basket making with family and friends. Madelyn and Ray watch the Red Sox games and track their progress, enjoy visiting with friends and family, and especially playing (and winning) their favorite card games.
